Iran, Serbia sign MoU on publishing books

TEHRAN, Oct. 28 (MNA) – The Iran Cultural Fairs Institute (ICFI) and Serbia’s prominent publisher, Službeni Glasnik, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in a bid to provide the grounds for the expansion of cultural relations between the two countries.

The MoU was signed by ICFI director, Amir Masoud Shahramnia, and Petar Arbutina, the executive director of Službeni Glasnik on Sunday during the 63rd Belgrade Book Fair.

As per the agreement, Iran and Serbia will exchange books and translations based on legal and international publishing regulations.

Accordingly, Službeni Glasnik is set to publish the translations of 10 Iranian books, originally written in Persian.

During the signing ceremony, Arbutina pointed to Iran’s “immense cultural and historical background”, saying, the agreement is aimed at providing the grounds for the expansion of cultural relations with the Islamic Republic.

The 63rd International Belgrade Book Fair kicked off in the namesake city on Oct. 21 and will end tonight (Oct. 28).

Accommodated in a pavilion of 20 square meters, ICFI is representing the Islamic Republic’s publishing industry. The pavilion is showcasing over 300 titles in different fields including religion, the Iraq-Iran imposed war, literature, poem, children’s and teenagers’ literature, arts and books on Iranian studies.

Around 1,000 exhibitors have participated in the book fair, which is themed "The Joy of Reading".
